Sümeg, the impregnable fortress

As I mentioned it in my previous post we have been on holiday in the beginning of October. That time I was writing about Badacsony, the small town on the bank of Balaton. During this trip our HQ was Sümeg, a city in western Hungary.

Holiday on the countriside: Badacsony

Me and Anuta took a few days off in the beginning of October to rest a bit after the last 3-4 months with full of works, thesis writing. We got a 3 days long wellness treatment in Sümeg, Hungary from my family so we just completed the package with a short get-to-know-Western-Hungary trip with a few stops. The first one was Badacsony which is a small town next to lake Balaton. It is famous of the wine production so we checked this.

Fall of 2015 is here

Today we had a small walk at Normafa, which is a popular place to get out of the city center here in Budapest. It got the name after a really old tree which was planted by a king long long time ago... well, the tree is not there anymore but the view is amazing especially if the air is as clear as it was today. It also provides lots of opportunities for families to hang out, for kids to play, for people to run or biking, during winter you also can skiing here on a very short slope.

Autumn is knocking on the door

This week we already could feel that summer of 2015 is gone once and for all. The mornings and the evenings were cold, the sun still has power during the day but its not that heavy and hitting than two weeks ago. Today I was walking a bit in the warm sunlight around Margaret island.

Plush brothers - Tux and Igor

When we moved in the flat Igor, Aniuta's childhood friend was also coming with us. It was never a question. He is a nice guy by the way, he never made any noise. He was just sitting alone in his red pullover and hat and was observing the life around him.

How to decorate your flat?

So how to decorate your flat? It is easier than you would imagine. Now I will tell you the secret of the home decor - ultimate level:

1. Visit one of your friends and ask them where did they buy the picture frames they have.
2. Be happy when they told you that in the home decor shop which is out of the city, a bit further then the end of the world
3. Promise your girlfriend that you will check the place.
4. You actually keep your word and travel there by public transportation. (hints: using a car is more convenient; do NOT call your male friend if you don't want to be made fun of; complaining during the shopping trip does NOT help...)
5. Buy there whatever she would like to have (hint: the faster you say yes, the faster you get out)
6. Place it on the shelves.

Here is the result, it was absolutely worth it:

Back to Budapest: Children's railway

We had a 4 days long holiday here in Budapest because of 20th of August which is our 'Foundation of the State' celebration like 4th of July in the U.S. If you visit Budapest around this date don't forget to check the fireworks at 9 pm on the bank of Danube, it's quite spectacular.
So back to our holiday and free time and a small break out of the city into the surrounding hills more specifically to Hűvösvölgy and the Children's railway.
You are free to go!

1 photo 1 story: The garden of bokeh

Well, it seems that I can not play accodring to the rules... there are too many photos I made in Moldova and I want to share most of them with you. Therefore the one photo rule is suspended for a while...
And now back to the post. In Chisinau we have visited the botanic garden on a warm (very hot) afternoon. While Aniuta and her friend were discussing their things I was walking around the area...

1 photo 1 story: Around the house

We have spent some time in Grigoripol at Aniuta's grandmother. I loved sitting in the shadow under the walnut.
It was peaceful and quiet... I am not a village person at all but there in that moment I was really thinking about to move out from the city.

1 photo 1 story: summer heat

Since I was taking photos in Moldova during my last trip, the next few posts will contain pictures from the numerous shots I've made there.
This one was made in Transnistria. An interesting part of the country, where you can feel that the time got slower 20 years ago and everything is way much calmer.
Transnistria means "Over the river Dnester" and the people of this territory want to get independent from Moldova... Imagine that you have to bring your passport with you if you'd like to visit your relatives there although oficially you are not leaving the country.

I took the photo on the bank of the river after we swimmed in the cold water. The grass was greenish-yellowish from the sun, the trees were deep green and the water was clean and blue. There were some white puffy clouds on the sky and you could hear the noise of the bugs around you in the warm summer afternoon.

Photo with a short story: Memorable Moldova

I decided to start a new series on the blog. The idea just hit came to my mind while I was editing the photos from my last trip in Moldova. I thought since I have limited time to write blog posts, I will not create long ones. Just short, easily consumable stories with one photo, maximum two.

I'd like to make the pictures speak instead of me. I hope they will give back the emotions, thoughts I'm feeling when I am taking or editing them.

My first will be a very special one, I was visiting Moldova in the beginning of June with Aniuta and I decided to make it very memorable for the both of us... for the whole family to be honest.

Guys, let me brag about one of my happiest days: I proposed her and she said yes! Love is in the air, happiness is around us :)
